Tangerine batteries

To celebrate the opening of a renovated public square the city of Amsterdam-Zuidoost invited 200 primary school children for a breakfast event. Jasper and I organised a workshop with breakfast materials: with tangerine juice, aluminium foil, coffee filters and some coins, the children made their own batteries. They made LEDs glow and buzzers beep. Connected together they easily reached 16 Volts. We included instruction sheets for further exploration at home or in school.
