The Amsterdam-based WAAG Society had provided a small group of citizens with air pollution sensors [Smart Citizen Kit], and they asked our friends Cascoland to help raise broader awareness of air quality.

Femke and I were involved and we soon focused on the filtering qualities of plants: their leaves can absorb many harmful substances and they even react physically to changing air conditions. Most people already have these advanced air quality sensors in their living rooms!

I built the PlantReader tool to measure and hear the stress plants feel when their environment changes. The PlantReader was presented at an event at WAAG Society with Cascoland.
